Meet Jen

Wildlife photographer Jen Goldman on safari in Masai Mara, Kenya, 2021

Jen Goldman, a Los Angeles native, is a dual-modality wildlife artist, employing photography and oil on canvas to vividly depict her global wildlife encounters. Driven by her profound appreciation for animals, she finds inspiration in the natural world and seeks to capture and share its beauty through her artistic expressions.

While Jen initially pursued a conventional career path, earning dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Michigan in 2000 and dedicating 24 years to roles in health, wellness, social services, and legal fields, she recognized a void in her professional fulfillment. In 2014, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery, studying photography and graphic design at Santa Monica College and ArtCenter College of Design while maintaining her full-time job. Over the past decade, she has dedicated her weekends to honing her painting skills under the guidance of local artist Susan Manders.

For the past 14 years, Jen has served as a Program Director at a law firm, while actively pursuing her passion through travel, photography, and painting.  Her commitment and achievements in her career have afforded her the opportunity to embark on wildlife adventures worldwide, spanning from Botswana to India. It was her first safari experience in South Africa that ignited a deep-seated passion for capturing wildlife in her artwork.

Upon returning from safari, Jen skillfully combines her photography and painting talents to craft vibrant, imaginative interpretations of her wildlife encounters. Each encounter leaves a significant impact on Jen, as she immortalizes the grace and power of these remarkable creatures through her lens.  Preferring to work outdoors, she utilizes palette knives and unconventional colors to create textured pieces that serve to ignite a sense of curiosity and reverence for wildlife.  Through her artwork, Jen inspires viewers to connect with the beauty and joy of the natural world, promoting its conservation and protection.
